MEET MR. FINGERHUT

Dear parents and students,

My name is Colby Fingerhut, and I am happy that you are visiting my site! This is my fourth year teaching and second year at Oakdale. My teaching career began in 2012 in Fort Smith, Arkansas at Union Christian Academy and then later brought me to Sheridan High School in Sheridan, Arkansas. I owe my business sense from my father and my teaching passion to my mother. I have taught Keyboarding, Personal Finance, Accounting, Computer Applications,  Digital Communications I, Digital Communications II, Digital Communications III, Digital Communications IV, Web Design, Broadcasting, and Yearbook. I have also coached basketball and tennis at both the high school and junior high levels.

I haven't always been a teacher. Before I found my passion as an educator, I graduated from Van Buren High School in Van Buren, Arkansas and went to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where I earned two bachelor degrees, one in Marketing Management and the other in Transportation & Logistics. I worked in sales and distribution for a Fortune 500 company in North Little Rock after graduating college. When I decided to fulfill my life dream of becoming an educator, I went back to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and earned my Masters in Business Education.

Me and my wife, Charity, will be married for two years in December. We met in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She has also taught at Union Christian Academy and in Sheridan Public Schools, and now teaches 6th grade English at Pea Ridge Middle School. We have four children, a Miniature Daschund named Pauly, a Shih-Tzu named Pixie, a Corgi named Vixi, and a Golden Retriever named Penny.

Some of my favorite things are basketball, ping-pong, OKC Thunder, history, Netflix, bicycling, storms, fantasy sports, sushi, BBQ, Apple tech, WWE, and of course, education.

I truly believe education is the most important field of work. I have a strong passion for teaching young adults fundamental, yet innovative business/computer skills that will last a lifetime!
